Holly and I have had Thunderbirds season tickets since the 1991-92 season.  That, my friends, is a lot of hockey.  Over the years we’ve been fortunate enough to make a lot of friends and meet a lot of players - both active players with the Thunderbirds, as well as some of the long-retired professionals who played for the Totems and even the Americans.  Below are some of the great people we have encountered thanks to hockey.

Entertaining the greatest player ever to lace up the skates in Seattle, Guyle Fielder, when Guyle paid a visit to our home to look over my memorabilia collection.

When I visited Fielder at his home a few years later, he said he had another guest coming over as well.  Turned out the other guest was none other than Val Fonteyne!

I stopped by Howie Hughes’ (right) place of business one day and didn’t realize worked with another former Totem, Don Ward (left).

Paying a visit to Bev Bentley (left) and his friend Gary at Bev’s home.

Holly with some former Seattle Thunderbirds - Eric Benke (left), Brooks Laich (middle), and Mark Lindsay (right).  Holly is wearing Lindsay’s President’s Day jersey in the photo on the right, which she just had signed.

Me with former Thunderbirds Dustin Johner (left), Scott Jackson (middle), and Greg Black (right).  In each picture I’m either wearing that player’s jersey, or in the case of Jackson receiving it right off his back after winning it at auction.
